Week 4
My educational goals in the Monterey Bay CS Program are to complete the program with straight A's in every class taken, learn as much as I can, and build a portfolio that I am proud of.
My career goals are to become a software developer, continue to advance my skills throughout my career, and eventually become a lead developer.
After looking at the test and seeing how hard it looks, I admit my confidence was lower than before I had seen it. Although, I have faith that I will learn a lot of this through the CS program at Monterey Bay. So knowing that; I expect to achieve at least a 90% on the test in 18 months.
This week we learned more about goal setting and how to do a better job of keeping on track to accomplish your goals. We worked on setting educational and career goals as seen above. We also learned about the ETS Computer Science Test and we also were able to see a sample. It looks pretty hard but I have confidence we will learn a lot in the next 18 months. We learned about the differences between inference and assumption. Inference is based on facts and evidence that you have or witness. Assumption is based on what you think you know. We learned about the 5 types of claims in an argument: Claims of Fact, Claims of Definition, Claims of Cause, Claims of Value, and Claims of Policy. We also learned about how to identify stakeholders and identify different biases in arguments.
Hello Mike! You have fantastic educational and career goals. It will be quite the challenge to get straight A's in all of the classes, but I am entirely confident that you have the skills and dedication to achieve your goals. I sincerely look forward to seeing your journey and working with you through it!
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, Having the goal to earn all A's is great! If the goal was to simply earn a passing grade I assume that not much of what is taught would stick. A software developer is the perfect career goals for after this program and I am confident you will be able to achieve your goal of lead developer after what is learned from this program.
